first ideas

Despite the fact that we don't really have a story for our film opening yet, we all agreed to make it funny and comedyish. As Nora and I are exchange students from Germany, we noticed that there are quite a few differences between our country and England which we could use for our film. We also thought that the kind of "language barrier" and the difficulties with the English language we had in the beginning might be something we could play with.
During our discussion we came up with a list of things we experienced in terms of differences between England and Germany:
  • Tea (not that popular in Germany, and - unlike in England - you can't buy it in German McDonald's)
  • Christmas (you get your presents in the morning of the 25th if you live in England; in Germany it is the evening of the 24th)
  • Driving (Germans drive on the right)
  • Cards (in England you send them for every occasion, in Germany it is quite uncommon to send cards)
  • Teaching styles (English teachers are not that strict with sixth formers, don't give a lot of work... generally very very different from teachers in Germany!)
  • School uniforms (we neither have school uniforms nor dress codes)
